What is the Taxonomy Glossary?
The Experience Digital Transformation (EDT) knowledge base provides practical guidance on digital government. This glossary explains the terms used to classify its resources, helping you find information and understand terminology consistently.
Use it to look up a term, its English or French names, and where EDT discusses it. To explore how ideas interact, use the separate Ontology Explorer.
How EDT organizes its knowledge
Think of EDT as a large library of practical guidance. This glossary helps everyone use the same words for the same ideas, and find material across that library.
A consistent list of preferred terms. For example, EDT uses “digital public infrastructure” as a named topic.
Groups preferred terms into useful categories and hierarchies, helping EDT classify resources consistently.
Records alternative names, synonyms and acronyms so different wording can point to the same concept. SKOS is a standard format for publishing such vocabularies.
Goes beyond labels and topic groupings to describe meaningful, specific relationships—for example, a task may be part of a stage, or a wallet may store a credential.
Its seven categories—Sector, Capability, Government Task, Journey Stage, Knowledge Artifact, Technical Topic and Audience—describe different aspects of a resource. They are not all branches of one single tree. Categorizing EDT pages helps readers find the right material consistently.
To see more than categories and terms—to explore what different digital-government ideas do and how they relate—open the Ontology Explorer. These two tools complement one another; neither replaces the source guidance.
How to use it
Search by topic, acronym or French or English term, or select one of the seven areas.
